Kevin McCarthy was ousted as Speaker of the House yesterday when several GOP congress people voted with the entire Democratic Party. This is the first time in US history that a sitting Speaker was removed in this fashion. Several supporting this move claim that McCarthy abandoned his promise to hold the Democrats and Joe Biden to a higher standard. As a result, he had to be replaced.
