One protester in Sweden threatened to burn a Quran, the Muslim Holy Book, and, reportedly, did not go through with it. His intention was to protest the Iraqi government, where he is originally from. The reaction in Iraq was violent and protestors threatened the lives of the Swedish Embassy Staff. The Swedish Embassy and the neighboring Finish Embassy were evacuated. Meanwhile, in other Muslim countries, violent protests prevailed and were encouraged by their governments. How do Western governments permit burning Holy Books? How do we ignore violent reactions to one person’s protests?
